Research programme 2010-2011
In direct response to a new agenda in the investment management industry, with increased focus on risk management, cost control and growth opportunities, SimCorp established its independent research institution, SimCorp StrategyLab, in December 2008. Through its extensive research and know-how, the institution’s aim is to provide insight into some of the many challenges facing professional asset managers throughout the world. Going forward SimCorp StrategyLab will continue to seek to suggest ways to meet the challenges and to share best practices.
Industry-sector research programme 2010-2011
The second period of SimCorp StrategyLab’s research activities will focus on the major sectors of the global investment management industry:
• investment funds
• asset management
• pension and insurance funds.
The guiding perception is that these sectors can benefit from useful insights achieved from SimCorp StrategyLab’s work on risk, cost and growth issues within each individual sector. Three research teams have been established to focus on these issues in relation to the three individual sectors, respectively. The examination by the teams will result in three white papers, which will seek to convey the current state of knowledge within the sectors and point the way forward from a management-strategy and public-policy perspective. The white papers debating the key industry issues for the immediate and medium-term future, options and recommendations will be published at regular intervals throughout 2010 and early 2011.
The designated sector-leaders from Stern School of Business, NYU, and INSEAD, who will team-up with distinguished European academics conducting research in the area as well as industry specialists in charge of examining these major industry sectors, are:

Among SimCorp StrategyLab’s other activities for the 2010-11 period and following up on the SimCorp StrategyLab Awards 2010, SimCorp StrategyLab is seeking applicants for the SimCorp Strategy Excellence Awards 2011, which will award outstanding and innovative leaders in the ability to mitigate risk, reduce cost and enable growth. The three winners will be announced at a ceremony in September 2011 during the SimCorp Dimension International User Community Meeting 2011 to take place in Stockholm, Sweden.
